Lawrence Sanders

Lawrence Sanders (born March 15, 1920 in Brooklyn , New York , † February 7, 1998 ) was an American journalist and writer . He wrote sporadically under the pseudonyms Mark Upton and Lesley Andress .

Life

After attending Brooklyn Public School, Sanders attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville , Indiana , and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts . Back in New York, Sanders worked at Macy’s department store and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1943 , where he served until 1946.

Sanders has worked as a journalist for over two decades and has contributed to magazines such as Mechanics Illustrated or Science and Mechanics . It was not until late that he devoted himself to his writing activities and in 1970, at the age of 50, wrote his first novel , The Anderson Tapes ( 11 pm, York Avenue) . This was awarded the Edgar Allan Poe Award by the Mystery Writers of America in 1971 as the best first novel and was filmed under the title The Anderson Clan with Sean Connery in the lead role.
