Leandah was a German girl group . It was put together as a quartet in the fall of 2015 as part of the eleventh season of the talent show Popstars . After about four months of existence, the band announced their separation.

Career

Leandah was created under the motto Completely New Tones as part of the eleventh season of the casting show Popstars in 2015. The jury of the show included dancer and choreographer Bella Garcia and the singers Miss Platnum and Stefanie Heinzmann . 27 candidates had been selected in advance for the new season and were then trained in the so-called "Popstars Academy".

Patricia "Pati" Ekkert, Alena Fischer, Selina Frimpong-Ansah and Sabrina Kolip eventually became members of Leandah's band. The winning title Tage wie Juwelen was available for download immediately after the TV broadcast of the final broadcast on October 10, 2015. The release as a CD single followed on October 12, 2015, on which the self-composed song Schöner ohne Dich was also found. The single could not place in the charts.

In December 2015 Leandah appeared in an episode of Cologne 50667 . With the "RTL2 Allstars" Leandah u. a. with Carmen Geiss and Richard Lugner on a cover version of the Christmas carol All I Want for Christmas Is You for the Christmas special of the tabloid magazine KLUB . On February 5, 2016, the band announced their breakup on Facebook .

criticism

It was criticized that other musicians from the Universal record label were also promoted on the show , for example Sarah Connor and Miss Platnum. The girls were supposed to sing songs from Connor's new album. The band Leandah, on the other hand, was rarely advertised. No separate video was produced for the single; instead, some RTLII excerpts were cut into one clip. There was little promotion for the single and little news about the band. For a long time, the members did not seem to know what to do with them. So they wrote on December 27, 2015: “We ourselves are sitting on coals. We have no news or dates to announce ”.
