Some & Any was a German-Swiss pop duo who emerged victorious from the eighth German pop stars season after a telephone vote . Members of the band were Leonardo "Leo" Ritzmann from Hinwil and Vanessa Meisinger from Lauf an der Pegnitz . After only about six months of existence, the band announced their separation.
history
The eighth pop stars season, in which a duo was sought for the first time, was under the motto you & me . The castings took place in the German cities of Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and Berlin. A total of 5,211 candidates applied. In advance, the presenter Oliver Petszokat was looking for talent on a nationwide scouting tour in discos. The broadcast started on August 20, 2009. In addition to Detlef Soost , the jury also included the singer and songwriter Michelle Leonard and the juror Alex Christensen, who was already active in the second season . In the probation show in Stuttgart, 34 participants fought for entry into the pop stars workshop. 25 candidates finally flew to the workshop in Las Vegas . 15 candidates made it into the band phase in New York . Several smaller auditions for vocal performances and recordings were carried out here. The candidates who victoriously applied for such a job automatically advanced one round. As a result, Ritzmann and Meisinger also appeared together with the group Culcha Candela . The Culcha Candela song Monsta was performed live together, followed by a "New York Popstars" edition of the single. In the last week of the Bandhaus, the jury divided the last twelve candidates into final duos. Five duos made it into the final phase, which took place again in Germany.
For the first time, ProSieben hosted two live broadcasts, which took place in the Arena Oberhausen and were moderated by Charlotte Engelhardt and Giovanni Zarrella . The first live show, described by ProSieben as the semi-final, took place on December 8th and had the motto “Popstars meets Disney”. The last three duos were supported by the singer of the band Stanfour , Konstantin Rethwisch, Roger Cicero and Cassandra Steen as godparents. Ritzmann and Meisinger were supported by Roger Cicero, who sang You'll Be In My Heart from the film Tarzan with them . Contrary to other announcements during the televoting, no couple was eliminated from the broadcast, to the displeasure of the audience in the hall. The media supervisory authority is therefore investigating because of delay and spectator deception. In the finale on December 10th, in which Leona Lewis , Mando Diao and Rihanna appeared, Some & Any was announced as the name of the duo, which also resulted in loud boos from the audience.
In the finale, Ritzmann and Meisinger received support from Rihanna in interpreting their song Umbrella . Vanessa Meisinger and Leonardo Ritzmann emerged as the winners of the season. The first single , Last Man Standing , was released on December 11, 2009, on the first day after the Popstars final, followed by the first studio album, First Shot , on December 18, 2009 . Some & Any are the first pop stars winners who did not enter the top 10 of the German album charts with their debut album. The album landed at number 47. The debut single rose to number 16 in the German single charts.
In the spring of 2010, Some & Any appeared as the opening act for Kelly Clarkson at the concerts of their All I Ever Wanted World Tour in Germany.
On June 7, 2010, the duo announced the breakup of the band during their last live performance together at the Gerry Weber Open .
At the end of 2010, the song Story to Tell , which is included on the debut album by Some & Any, was re-recorded by Kim Wilde under the name Real Life and released as a single.

Vanessa Meisinger
Vanessa Meisinger (born July 30, 1991) began singing and playing the flute in elementary school. At the age of 14 she discovered her passion for street dance . In 2008 she had already taken part in a pop stars casting, but dropped out in the recall because the other castings were too far away from her home town of Lauf. In 2009 she applied again and made it into the duo Some & Any . She has been working as a television presenter since 2012 .
Leonardo "Leo" Ritzmann
Leonardo "Leo" Ritzmann (born July 28, 1989) sang in a children's choir at the age of seven and learned to play the guitar shortly afterwards. The native Brazilian completed an apprenticeship as a retail specialist . Ritzmann applied for the Swiss talent show MusicStar in 2008 , where he finished sixth. Then he wanted to record his own record, but couldn't find a label.
In May 2010 Leo Ritzmann was spotted in sales again: in a fashion boutique in a Swiss shopping center.
In July 2010 it was reported that he had signed an exclusive contract with the management company of German hit producer Dieter Bohlen . Under the name Leo Matos, he is supposed to conquer neither the German nor the Swiss music market, but the Brazilian one. Matos is not his stage name, but the name that is the last name in his Brazilian passport, he said in an interview. In August 2012, Ritzmann came out as bisexual. In 2018 he was seen in the RTL II program "Chartbreaker" and made it to the finals.
