The Leavitt Peak is a 3,528 m high mountain in the Sierra Nevada in the US - State of California . It lies on the border between Tuolumne County and Mono County .

The mountain is located a few kilometers south of the Sonora Pass . The Pacific Crest Trail runs east of the summit. To the south lies Kennedy Lake , which is fed by Kennedy Creek . On the west flank the opening up Emigrant Wilderness , east of the military training area Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Bridgeport . Peaks in the area are Sonora Peak in the north, Mount Emma in the east, Kennedy Peak and Molo Mountain in the south, Relief Peak in the southwest and Night Cap Peak in the northwest. The next higher mountain is Tower Peak, about 18 km away in a south-southeast direction.
