Lech high trail

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lech-Höhenweg is a long-distance hiking trail in Bavaria that was opened in 1979 and leads from Landsberg am Lech in a north-south direction to Füssen . The route consistently follows the course of the river Lech . The approximately 84 km long path is marked with a blue L on a blue wavy line. The alternation between idyllic river landscapes and views of the mountains of the Alps make the path so special.

From the starting point in Landsberg you can reach the former Roman settlement of Epfach on the right side of the Lech via Pitzling and Mundraching . Changing here to the left and passes through Kinsau and Hohenfurch to Schongau . Later the Litzau Loop is passed, where the original river landscape is still preserved. Shortly after Gut Dessau, the Lech is crossed again at barrage 4. On the right side you hike, last on the bank of the Lech reservoir Urspring (barrage 3), on to Lechbruck . The final stage leads first along the Premer Lechsee (barrage 2) and later between Forggensee and Bannwaldsee via Waltenhofen (district of Schwangau ) to Füssen.

There is a connecting route from Augsburg to Landsberg via the Lech customs house near Klosterlechfeld and Kaufering .

The Lech-Höhenweg was renamed the LechErlebnisWeg in 2016 and the signage was adapted. In addition, experience stations were set up on the subject of biodiversity.
