Lecompte is a small town in Rapides Parish in US -amerikanischen State Louisiana . At the 2010 census , Lecompte had 1,227 residents, a 10.2 percent decrease from the 2000 census .

Lecompte is located almost in the extreme southeast of the county, near the geographic center of Louisiana and has a total area of one square mile (2.6 km²) according to the United States Census Bureau .
history
The city of Lecompte was named after a racehorse belonging to the Wells family who owned a plantation south of the city . The successful horse named "LeComte" won many races on the circuit of the Fairgrounds in New Orleans . At the historical “ Lecompte High School ”, listed in the NRHP with the number 92001251, “LeComte” was honored with a photo on the first page in the school's yearbook .
After, according to history, the resident railway company inscribed the letter "P" on the wall of a car hall , the letter in the place name was imported, and "LeComte" became "LeCompte" .
Demographics
As of the 2000 census , there were 1,366 residents, 516 households and 330 families in the city. The population density was 517.1 people per km². The ethnic distribution in the city was 24.96 percent white, 74.30 percent African American, 0.15 percent Native, 0.15 percent other races, and 0.44 percent of two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.95 percent of the population.
Of 516 households, 27.3 percent had children and adolescents under the age of 18, 34.7 percent were married couples living together, 24.2 percent were single mothers, and 35.9 percent were non-families. 32.2 percent were single households, and 16.9 percent had people who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.38 people.
28.9 percent of the total city population was under the age of 18, 10.9 percent between 18 and 24, 24.2 percent between the ages of 25 and 44, 20.6 percent between 45 and 64, and 15.4 percent were 65 or older . The average age was 34 years. There were 79 men for every 100 women; for every 100 women who were 18 years or older, there were 75.0 men.
The median income for a household in Lecompte was 18,708 US dollars , which was a family at 23,897 USD. Males had a median income of $ 22,361 compared to $ 15,250 for females. The per capita income of the city dwellers was $ 10,210. Lecompte is famous for Lea's Lunchroom, a restaurant that specializes in cakes. Since 2002 there has been an annual cake festival in the city.
