Lecompte is a small town in Rapides Parish in US -amerikanischen State Louisiana . At the 2010 census , Lecompte had 1,227 residents, a 10.2 percent decrease from the 2000 census .

history

The city of Lecompte was named after a racehorse belonging to the Wells family who owned a plantation south of the city . The successful horse named "LeComte" won many races on the circuit of the Fairgrounds in New Orleans . At the historical “ Lecompte High School ”, listed in the NRHP with the number 92001251, “LeComte” was honored with a photo on the first page in the school's yearbook .

After, according to history, the resident railway company inscribed the letter "P" on the wall of a car hall , the letter in the place name was imported, and "LeComte" became "LeCompte" .

As of the 2000 census , there were 1,366 residents, 516 households and 330 families in the city. The population density was 517.1 people per km². The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.38 people.
