Lefkotopos ( Greek Λευκότοπος ( m. Sg. )) Is a village with 311 inhabitants in the Greek region of Central Macedonia . Lefkotopos is a village in the municipality of Achinos in the municipality of Visaltia .

The village is about 35 km north of the sea ( Strymonian Gulf ) or north of Amphipolis and the highway 2 running parallel to the coast . Its distance from Serres is 40 km, from Kavala 55 km and from Thessaloniki 90 km.

The inhabitants of Lefkotopos are mostly pontiers or descendants of Pontic expellees who were deported from Turkey to Greece as a result of the population exchange agreed in the 1922 Treaty of Lausanne . Their ancient homeland, Pontos (Kingdom) , was an area that had been Greek since ancient times.

Some of the inhabitants are farmers , others have moved abroad (Western Europe) or to neighboring Thessaloniki. Tobacco , vegetables , peanuts , medicinal herbs , olive trees , fig trees , almond and walnut trees and other fruit trees are grown in Lefkotopos . There are also three modern olive processing plants in operation in the village, covering a large part of the processing needs of the area's olive growers.

Annually, on August 28th, the eve of Saint Agios Ioannis Prodromos , the beheading of John the Baptist , to whom the newly built village church is dedicated, the Association of the Residents of Thessaloniki organizes a cultural event with Pontic dances and Pontic lyric music.
