history

In 1910 the Association of Visual Artists Leipzig (eV) organized the first annual exhibition in the municipal department store . The following concern was thus pursued:

“The Secession has set itself the task of organizing an annual exhibition in Leipzig every year. With this exhibition, the association aims to promote the ideal and economic aspirations of Leipzig painters, sculptors and graphic artists, and on the other hand to be active in the design of our domestic art and thus to secure Leipzig an important position in German art life. The exhibition, which not only contains works by Leipzig artists, but in which artists from all German art cities are represented, shows the appreciable way in which the Leipzig Secession enterprise has received attention from foreign artists and no less from the Leipzig Artists Association and the Leipzig Artists Association .
