Leipzig literary autumn
The Leipzig literary autumn is a literature festival in Leipzig . It takes place annually in October. Over a period of about a week, literary and cultural-political encounters can be experienced, in whose discussion forums national and international authors read at different locations within the city and exchange views on important and current topics.
history
The Leipzig literary autumn was founded in 1991 by active board members of the Association of German Writers (VS) in the IG Medien and until 2003 it was held annually. The most important motive was to found a forum for encounters, which enables literary and cultural professionals to critically examine pressing problems and questions of the present. Due to the withdrawal of public sponsors from funding, the festival was discontinued in 2003 and only revived in 2009 under the name “textenet”. After its successful resumption, the reading festival has officially been run again since 2010 under the name “Leipzig literary autumn”.
