Leisten is a district of the town of Plau am See in the east of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
geography
The Hofsee lies on the south-eastern outskirts of Leisten ; the Plauer See lies a little further to the east. The Leistener Lanke , a bulge (see Lanke ) of the Plauer See, lies to the south. The nature reserve Nordufer Plauer See lies on the west bank of the Plauer See .
The B 103 runs along the western outskirts of Leisten .
history
The old Mecklenburg noble family von Lehsten , also written as Leesten , Leest or Leisten , was first mentioned in a document in 1255. The family owned the Lehsten estate in 1283 and later acquired other properties. The estate was owned by the family until 1803. The families of Pentz Wilhelm Beust (from 1817) and Johannes Schlutius (1899–1945) followed.
