The place is west of the core city Plau am See and south of the federal highway 191 . The Müritz-Elde waterway runs north and Bundesstraße 103 to the east . The size of the district is 338.8960 hectares (1993).

To the southeast lies the Plauer Stadtwald nature reserve , which is cut through by the B 103. There are several small lakes in the nature reserve: the Gaarzer See , the Burgsee , the Kuhlensee , the Ziegeleisee , the Lebersee and the Griepensee . The Plauer See lies a little further to the east.

history

The old village of Lalchow, first mentioned in 1271 - the name suggests a Slavic foundation - had fallen in desolation before the middle of the 15th century . In 1754 a ducal domain was established on the old village field mark . In 1911 the cultivated area was 255.3 hectares.

From 1918 to 1945 Hof Lalchow was a state domain of the state of Mecklenburg. In addition to the manor house, there were two day laborers' cottages for four families each, plus a reaper's barracks . The next new lease date would have been June 1945. The last domain tenants, the Eberhardt family, fled to the west. Due to its size of more than 100 hectares, the domain was re-measured and relocated during the land reform in October 1945: around 12 new farms were now cultivating the fields. The Schnitterkaserne was inhabited by refugees from the eastern regions of the German Reich . As a result, new homes were built. In 1971 the village had 164 inhabitants, in 2009 there were only 32.

In 1959 two agricultural production cooperatives (LPG type I) "Pionier" and "V. Party Congress ”, which united on January 1st, 1963 to form the“ LPG Pioneer ”. The cultivated area was 226.33 hectares. 1975 joined the KAP Plauerhagen. After the German reunification , the LPG was finally liquidated.

In recent years, the place has increasingly been the destination of foreigners looking for relaxation.
