Lene Marlin
Lene Marlin (real: Lene Marlin Pedersen ) (born August 17, 1980 in Tromsø ) is a Norwegian songwriter and pop singer.
Youth and first success
Lene was given her first guitar at the age of 15. The autodidact first played songs she had written herself for her friends and family. In the summer of 1997 the largest radio station in Norway, NRK , received a cassette with Lene's pieces and invited her to make a recording. This recording helped her to her first record deal with Virgin .
During her high school graduation, she recorded her debut album Playing My Game . The first single from it, Unforgivable Sinner , became a hit in their home country and stayed at the top of the charts for two months. The next single, Sitting Down Here , was equally successful. The release of the album Playing My Game was sold 1.8 million times worldwide and reached platinum in several European countries .
Her simple style, personal lyrics and memorable melodies led to the success of the artist, who now lives in Oslo . She was named best Scandinavian artist at the 1999 MTV Europe Music Awards . A break followed, during which she withdrew from the public.
In August 2008 she announced that she was dating the actor Kåre Conradi .
The following albums
After a break of almost five years, she finally made a remarkable comeback in 2003 with the album Another Day . The first single, You Weren't There , jumped to number 1 in numerous countries, including Norway, in the first week. However, with 600,000 CDs sold worldwide, the commercial success was not as overwhelming as on their debut album.
The third album Lost In A Moment with the single How Would It Be was released in 2005. From a commercial point of view, the work lagged behind its two predecessors. In her home country of Norway she did not reach first place for the first time, but only fourth place. However, Marlin achieved solid placements in the Swiss and Italian charts.
A year later she recorded the song Avalon with the Swiss band Lovebugs . The song made it into the charts in Switzerland and Norway. After that it became quiet about the artist. The fact that she co-wrote the theme song for Rihanna's album Good Girl Gone Bad in 2007 caused little stir . She also sang a duet ( All gone ) with the band Marquess on their album ¡Ya! .
Almost four years after Lost In A Moment , Marlin's fourth studio album, Twist The Truth , was released in Norway at the end of March 2009 , and the LP was released in Germany in mid-August of that year. The first single Here We Are reached number 6 in the Norwegian singles charts and became the most played song by a Norwegian artist on local radio stations. You Could Have was released as a download single in June 2009. In the following years Marlin devoted himself again to writing songs for other artists. This work resulted in the duet Worth It with Aleksander With , which reached third place in the Norwegian charts.
