The Leningrad Rajon ( Russian Ленинградский район Leningradski rajon ) is one of three administrative districts of the city of Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg Prussia) , the capital of the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg region ).

Geographical location

The Leningrad Rajon is located in the northeast of the city of Kaliningrad and covers an area of ​​53.7 km² with 149,531 inhabitants (status: 2010). In the west and south it borders on the other two urban districts Zentralrajon and Moscow Rajon , in the north and east on the Gurjewsk Rajon ( Neuhausen district ) with the rural communities Khrabrowskoje (Powunden) , Kutuzovskoye (based in Maloje Vasilkowo (Neudamm) ) and Bolscheissakowskoje ( Lauth) .

history

On July 25, 1947, four districts were established in the city of Kaliningrad, in addition to the Leningrad Rajon there were the Baltic , Moscow and Stalingrad Rajons. The Zentralrajon was detached from the Stalingrad Rajon in 1952 . In 1961, the Stalingrad Rajon in was Oktoberrajon renamed.

On June 29, 2009, the Baltic Rajon was incorporated into the Moscow Rajon and the Oktoberrajon into the Central Rajon.
