The Leningrad Rajon ( Russian Ленинградский район Leningradski rajon ) is one of three administrative districts of the city of Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg Prussia) , the capital of the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg region ).
Geographical location
The Leningrad Rajon is located in the northeast of the city of Kaliningrad and covers an area of 53.7 km² with 149,531 inhabitants (status: 2010). In the west and south it borders on the other two urban districts Zentralrajon and Moscow Rajon , in the north and east on the Gurjewsk Rajon ( Neuhausen district ) with the rural communities Khrabrowskoje (Powunden) , Kutuzovskoye (based in Maloje Vasilkowo (Neudamm) ) and Bolscheissakowskoje ( Lauth) .
history
On July 25, 1947, four districts were established in the city of Kaliningrad, in addition to the Leningrad Rajon there were the Baltic , Moscow and Stalingrad Rajons. The Zentralrajon was detached from the Stalingrad Rajon in 1952 . In 1961, the Stalingrad Rajon in was Oktoberrajon renamed.
On June 29, 2009, the Baltic Rajon was incorporated into the Moscow Rajon and the Oktoberrajon into the Central Rajon.

In 1947, twelve former districts of Königsberg (Prussia) and also places of the Königsberg district (1939 to 1945 Samland district ) were incorporated into the Leningrad Rajon :
