Leo Schöngruber

Leo Schöngruber (* 1928 in Munderfing ; † September 2, 2014 in Braunau ) was an Austrian architect , painter and draftsman .

Live and act

After graduating from the Humanistic Gymnasium in Salzburg in 1947, he studied architecture at the Technical University of Vienna , where he graduated in 1956 as a graduate engineer . In 1954 he was accepted into the CIAM ( Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne ) and took part in the 9th Congress in Aix-en-Provence .

After five years of practical experience in an architecture firm and with a construction company, he passed the civil engineering examination, and in 1962 he was granted the license to practice as an architect. From 1964 to 1972 he ran an office together with Gerhard Hanappi in Vienna and in 1972 moved to Braunau am Inn , where he worked as a freelance architect until 1998.

From 1978 he was a guild master of the Innviertel artists' guild and the Malkreis Braunau. In his free time he was busy painting and drawing. The painting style was varied and ranged from the naturalistic depiction of flowers or buildings to expressionistic alienation and abstract color compositions.

In the course of his professional life, Schöngruber has planned and mostly realized numerous buildings, such as residential buildings, schools and kindergartens, office and official buildings, industrial and commercial buildings, old people's and nursing homes, banks, fire stations and sports buildings.
