The Schachenwald is a nature reserve in the Kaiserslautern district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 64 hectare area includes parts of the towns of Hütschenhausen , Ramstein and Spesbach .

By placing it under protection, the " sand dune forests with numerous boundary lines (ecotones) as well as the alder forests located to the south are to be preserved as biotope potential for typical and rare wild-growing plant species and as habitats and partial habitats of typical and rare animal species and corresponding communities", as well as from natural history and geography Establish the " sand dunes on the red sandstone ridge " that protrude about a meter above the moor.
