Leo Tschenett

Leo Tschenett (born June 4, 1937 in Innsbruck ; † July 8, 2012 in Ranggen ) was an Austrian football player .

Life

In 1958 Tschenett moved from SV Innsbruck to FC Wacker Innsbruck , where he played as a goalkeeper in what was then the State League A (now the Bundesliga ). In 1970 he won the ÖFB Cup with the club . In the 1970/71 season , Tschenett was instrumental in ensuring that FC Wacker Innsbruck was able to win its first championship title in the club's history. Overall, Tschenett, who first had strong competitors in Gernot Fraydl and later in Herbert Rettensteiner , played 56 championship games and a European Cup game against Partizan Tirana for FC Wacker Innsbruck under the coaching duo Branko Elsner / Otto Barić . After completing his professional career, Tschenett returned to SV Innsbruck.

Even in old age he remained active in senior games and as a goalkeeper coach, most recently in the Regionalliga West at SPG Axams / Götzens .

On July 8, 2012, Tschenett set out on a hike in the Stubai Alps on the Rangger Köpfl . In the afternoon, the 75-year-old was seen in an inn at 1,663 meters above sea level. After he did not get home in the evening, a search was started, which was unsuccessful for the time being. On July 12, 2012, Tschenett was found dead in a steep ditch in the forest about a hundred meters below the path as part of another search.

Tschenett was widowed and had a daughter and a son.
