Leon of Guaita
Leon von Guaita , actually Leon Georges Charles Louis Philippe von Guaita (born November 4, 1878 in Frankfurt am Main , † November 17, 1932 in Bad Oeynhausen ) was a German country nobleman whose ancestors came from Lombardy . The Guaita family had achieved prosperity and prestige, especially in Frankfurt am Main.
Life
Leon von Guaita was a son of Max von Guaita and his wife Henriette Sophie Leve, the builder of the Villa Guaita , a magnificent summer residence in Kronberg im Taunus . In 1909, Leon von Guaita bought the Storkau estate with 362 hectares of land belonging to it. Immediately after the purchase, he commissioned the architectural office Breslauer & Salinger from Berlin with the construction of a new palace including a park, gatehouse and orangery. It is located in Storkau , a district of the city of Tangermünde in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt . After his death on November 17, 1932, Storkau Castle was sold to a Korfes family in 1935, who handed it over to the Reich Labor Service four years later . Today it is used as a hotel and by the administrative trade association as a training academy.
family
At the age of 26, Leon married the 20-year-old Margot Ida Anna Sidonie von Ploetz (born March 13, 1884 in Quilow / Pomerania; † NN) on June 30, 1904 in Stuchow , Pomerania . Her father was Leo Karl Friedrich Wilhelm von Ploetz (Leo von Ploetz) (* August 4, 1848 Stuchow; † November 10, 1915 ibid) from the noble family von Ploetz , Stuchower and Schwenzer branch. He was a royal Prussian chamberlain and Rittmeister a. D., Imperial Knight of the Order of St. John, Fideikommissherr and landlord on Stuchow and Staarz, on Rackitt and Tetzlaffshagen ( Cammin district ). Her mother was Julie von Köller (born August 17, 1859 in Dobberphul, † September 24, 1942 in Rackitt).
Leon and Margot von Guaita had three children:
- Melita Sofie Julie Mila Carola von Guaita (born April 17, 1905 in Demmin ; † NN) As a 19-year-old, she married the later war criminal and Nazi refugee Ludolf-Hermann Emmanuel Georg Kurt Werner von Alvensleben on May 4, 1924, mostly just Ludolf von Alvensleben , also called Bubi von Alvensleben, (born March 17, 1901 in Halle (Saale), † probably April 1, 1970 in Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, Province of Córdoba, Argentina ). He was a German NSDAP member of the Reichstag, SS group leader and lieutenant general of the Waffen SS.
- Leberecht Georg Max Leon Henning von Guaita (born June 30, 1906 in Demmin ; † February 21, 1980 in Heidelberg ). At the age of 32, he married the 20-year-old Gisela Wilhelmine Mercedes Clara Johanna Stieler von Heydekampf on September 20, 1938 in Hanover (born January 3, 1918, † September 11, 1985 in Heidelberg)
- Bettina von Guaita (* NN; † NN) married Hugo von Wilamowitz-Möllendorf on June 14, 1942 (* January 20, 1906; † November 11, 1970)
