Leopold Karl Eduard Adolf von Heister (born October 10, 1801 in Sagan, † January 11, 1863 in Posen ) was a Prussian major general and most recently in command of the Posen fortress .

Life

origin

His parents were General Karl Levin von Heister (1757–1816) and his wife Justiane Sophie von Westernhagen (1758–1798) from the Berlingerode family. His brother Leopold Wilhelm Karl August (1795–1863) was a Prussian major general.

Career

He came to Berlin on March 31, 1817 as a cadet . From there he came on May 5, 1818 as porter ensign in the 1st Guard Regiment on foot . There was aggregated second lieutenant on April 17, 1819 and posted there on February 11, 1820. From 1827 to 1828 he was posted to the General War School . On October 20, 1828 he was transferred to the 39th Infantry Regiment and aggregated into the 28th Infantry Regiment on January 28, 1830 . He was appointed Premier-Lieutenant on November 28, 1833 and on March 30, 1834 as an adjutant of the 16th Landwehr Brigade. On February 10, 1837 he became adjutant of the 15th Division. On March 30, 1840, he was relieved of his command and transferred to the 17th Infantry Regiment; the patent was backdated to October 24, 1832. On July 21, 1842 he was appointed captain and company commander. On January 16, 1849 he was transferred to the 17th Landwehr Regiment, where he was commander of the III. Battalion was. From there he was transferred to the Fusilier Battalion of the 17th Infantry Regiment on February 12, 1852. There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 13, 1854.

On November 8, 1856, he came to the fortress of Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein as the second in command and was assigned à la suite of the 17th Infantry Regiment. He married Emilie Susanne Simon (born June 16, 1798) widowed Bose on November 7, 1828 in Wismar; the marriage was divorced on September 14, 1837 in Berlin. He married again on March 10, 1845 in Potsdam. His wife became Klara Antoinette Adelheid von Bredow (born September 22, 1823, † October 20, 1901).
