Leopold Leeb

Leopold Leeb SVD ( chin. Léi Lìbó雷立柏, * 1967 in Hollabrunn ) is an Austrian philosopher , theologian , sinologist , translator and professor at the Chinese People's University (Zhōngguó rénmín dàxué 中国 人民 大学) in Beijing . It plays an important role in classical philology (the tres linguae sacrae , especially for Latin ) in China .

biography

From 1985 Leopold Leeb studied philosophy and theology at the Missionshaus St. Gabriel in Mödling near Vienna . From 1988 to 1991 he studied Chinese and Chinese philosophy at Fu-jen University in Taipei . From 1991 to 1995 he continued his studies in Mödling. From 1995 to 1999 he studied Chinese philosophy at Beijing University and graduated with a doctorate on Zhang Heng .

From 1999 to 2004 Leeb worked as a researcher and translator at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences .

He is a member of the Monumenta Serica Institute in Sankt Augustin .

Since 2004 Leeb has been a professor at the Chinese People's University, where he a. a. Latin , Ancient Greek , Biblical Hebrew and literary history teaches.
