Lephalale ( English Lephalale Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Waterberg district of Limpopo Province in South Africa . The seat of the municipal administration is in the city of Lephalale (formerly Ellisras ) on the river of the same name in the Waterberg Mountains . Jack Moloko Maeko is the mayor.

Lephalale is the largest municipality in both the Waterberg District and Limpopo Province.

In 2011 the community had 115,767 inhabitants. 90.7% of them were black, 7.9% white and 0.9% colored .

The first language was Sepedi ( 48%) , Setswana ( 22.4%) , Afrikaans ( 7.5%) , English (2.9%), Xitsonga ( 2.8%) , IsiZulu ( 1.7%) , and Sesotho ( 1.6%) 1.4% Tshivenda , 1.1% isiNdebele and 0.9% isiXhosa .
