Leprechaun: Origins

Leprechaun Returns is an American horror film directed by Steven Kostanski in 2018. It is a direct sequel to Leprechaun (1993) and ignores all previous sequels. It was produced by the Syfy TV station .

action

Lila, the daughter of Tory Reding from the first part, has joined the Alpha Upsilon ( AU ) sisterhood and made her way to the new fraternity house. Unfortunately she was forgotten at the train station, but Ozzie, who seems a bit retarded (also a character from the first part), kindly takes her with him, although he is a bit afraid of the house. Once there, the surprise is great. Punctuality is not the strong point of the connection.

On the way back, Ozzi notices that he has lost his cell phone. When he hears voices from the well and looks, the water jumps out of the well and lands in his mouth. On the way back, the leprechaun emerges from his belly, from which Ozzie swallowed a tiny piece. He is now looking for his gold.

First he reveals himself to Lila and then hunts down the other women and the male visitor. The ghost of Ozzie finally leads Lila on the trail of the goblin's treasure. Together with the remaining women, she finds the treasure, but finds out that Rose has embezzled the gold. With the remaining gold they set a trap for the leprechaun and seem to be able to destroy him. But he's coming back. Eventually they electrify it and burn the house down. They then escape with a campus employee.

But the leprechaun survived and then hitchhiked a chicken truck into town.

background

The film ties in seamlessly with the first part of Leprechaun - The Killer Goblin . Warwick Davis , who had played the Kobold in the previous six parts, was no longer available. After Davis became a father, he lost interest in horror films. There was already a reboot of the series with WWE star Hornswoggle , but it flopped. The film was shot for Syfy television and was released worldwide on December 11, 2018. In Germany he was first seen on Amazon Instant Video . The original plan was for a St. Patrick's Day release, but after Lionsgate finished production, the film was released earlier.

Reviews

Leprechaun Returns received few positive reviews. In many reviews it was criticized that the film looked very old-fashioned and, in particular, the pun of the character, who almost only speaks in rhyme, would no longer fit into the current era.
