Leprechaun 2 (alternatively: Leprechaun 2 - The Return of the Killer Goblin ) is an American horror film from 1994. As in all other parts of the film series, Warwick Davis plays the main role of the leprechaun .

content

Ireland in the 10th century: The leprechaun is looking for a bride on the occasion of his 1000th birthday on St. Patrick's Day . His prisoner William O'Day helps him, as he hopes to be free. But when the leprechaun chooses his daughter, O'Day outwits the goblin and is killed for it.

1000 years later, a descendant of O'Day's named Bridget lives in Los Angeles, USA . She is in a relationship with the orphan Cody, who lives under the tutelage of petty crook Morty. But because Morty is not able to earn a living due to his alcoholism, a supposed scary tour in a hearse, Cody takes over this, which leads to an argument with Bridget and an arrest for frenzy. Cody's rival Ian, who is also in love with Bridget, sees the chance to conquer her, but is rejected by her. Shortly afterwards, Bridget seems to have changed her mind and seduces him. However, he does not notice that he has succumbed to an illusion of the now resurfaced leprechaun and dies when his head is dismembered by two lawnmower blades.

Meanwhile, Cody and Bridget make up again when the leprechaun performs his ritual on her, which Cody cannot prevent. The leprechaun puts a gold collar around Bridget and can bring her into his power and his room. But because Bridget knocked over his gold cauldron beforehand, Cody came into the possession of a shilling, the lack of which the leprechaun immediately noticed and immediately went to look for it.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the house and the murder of Ian. Because they find a card with Cody's name in the house, they suspect him and put him out there. The leprechaun is also on the trail. They meet in Cody and Morty's apartment. Both of them escape to a nearby bar, but they can't shake him off, so Morty has a plan. He wants to get the leprechaun so drunk that he will reveal his hiding place and the whereabouts of Bridget while intoxicated. This does not succeed because the leprechaun hits Morty with a whiskey bottle and is able to escape.

Cody comes up with a different idea. Knowing that wrought iron is the leprechaun's only weakness, he and Morty break into a go-kart facility where there is a heavy iron safe. But the facility is well guarded by guard dogs and a security guard. The latter catches Morty and can overpower him. However, through a distraction Morty manages to incapacitate the security guard when he is suddenly attacked by the leprechaun. Nevertheless, Cody manages to snap the trap shut when the goblin is lured into the safe through a dog flap. Morty's greed for riches not only destroys the plan, it becomes his undoing. He locks Cody in a storage room and wants the pot with the leprechaun's gold, which is now in his stomach. With a ruse, the leprechaun can free himself and kill Morty while Cody escapes. In the meantime the security guard has woken up and thinks Cody is the killer. However, the leprechaun prevents an arrest with the help of a specially designed go-kart and runs over the security guard. However, he does not succeed in killing Cody as long as he has the shilling.

The showdown takes place in the leprechaun's room. While Bridget's plan to stab the goblin with an awl fails, Cody enters the room and has to fight off the illusions of the leprechaun and the skeleton of William O'Day to get to Bridget. She manages to free herself from her collar with the help of the bent awl, but Cody and Bridget cannot escape. When Bridget transforms, the leprechaun manages to get the shilling back and stabs Cody in the chest with an iron poker. But because Cody only gave him a fake before, he was able to survive and in turn kills the leprechaun with this poker. The goblin explodes and Cody and Bridget can now escape.

Reviews

“A continuation of the trivial horror film of the same name, whose simple story is not enhanced by the special effects. Even if the gruesome murder scenes are cut, it becomes clear how deliberately shock and disgust effects are used. "
