Sandy Baron
Sandy Baron , actually Sanford Beresofsky (born May 5, 1937 in New York City , New York , † January 21, 2001 in Van Nuys , California ) was an American actor .
Life
Sandy Baron grew up in Brooklyn as a child of Jewish parents. He graduated from Brooklyn College and spent the summer working in the Catskill Mountains , where he came into contact with some young comedians. In 1962 he made his Broadway debut. Within two years, Baron made a name for himself as a comedian. In 1964 he released an album called The Race! Race! . He himself described it as a "comedic album about hatred, prejudice, bigotry and other nonsense". Baron became known nationally in the same year for the TV comedy series That Was the Week That Was , an American offshoot of the British hit series of the same name.
Baron proved his artistic breadth in the early 1970s. In New York he worked as a disc jockey, in 1971 he wrote the hit A Natural Man for Lou Rawls . After various appearances on talk shows, Baron played the title role of Lenny at the Hollywood Aquarius Theater. Further television and film projects made this appearance his last stage appearance.
Sandy Baron died at the age of 63 as a result of emphysema .
