Systematics
Asterids
Euasterids II
Order : Astern-like (Asterales)
Family : Bellflower family (Campanulaceae)
Subfamily : Campanuloideae
Genre : Leptocodon
Scientific name
Leptocodon
( Hook. F. ) Lem.

The genus Leptocodon belongs to the family of bluebells (Campanulaceae). It consists of two types that are common in the Himalayas .

features

In terms of generic characteristics, Leptocodon is similar to the genus Codonopsis , but the ovary has five glands at the top that are offset from the stamens . The flowers are five-fold. The pollen has seven to eight furrows ("colpat"). The ovary is dreifächrig, the stylus is dreilappig. The fruit is a leathery three-compartment capsule .

ecology

Leptocodon occurs in snow-free areas. However, the seeds have a firm dormancy .

Systematics

The genus Leptocodon belongs to the bluebell family in the narrower sense ( Campanuloideae ) and is related to the Campanumoea , Canarina , Codonopsis , Cyananthus , Ostrowskia and Platycodon . Because the genus is only distinguished from Codonopsis by the glands , Morris & Lammers (1997) advocate integrating leptocodon into them.

species

There are two Leptocodon species, but by some authors to codonopsis be asked:

  • Leptocodon gracilis (Hook.f. & Thomson) Lem. (Syn .: Codonopsis gracilis Hook.f. & Thomson ): It occurs from Nepal to China.
  • Leptocodon hirsutus D.Y. Hong (Syn .: Codonopsis hongii Lammers ): It occurs from Sikkim to China.
