Leptoglossis schwenkioides is a plant type from the genus Leptoglossis in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Leptoglossis schwenkioides is a shrub with a large number of whole-edged, small or only scale-like leaves , which are increasingly reduced the higher they are on the plant. Many flowers can be found in the upper branches, accompanied by small bracts . The flowers are indistinctly arranged in clusters or panicles . The calyx is more or less bell-shaped and covered with five narrow lobes, between which a clearly membrane-like area is formed. The crown is cylindrical and usually between 1.0 and 1.5 cm long, while the corolla tube has a diameter of 1.0 to 1.5 mm, the coronet is narrow. The stamens are tightly enclosed by the crown throat.

The species occurs in canyons in the mountains above Lima ( Peru ).
Systematics and botanical history
The species was first described by George Bentham in 1844 . The name Salpiglossis schwenkioides , given by Richard Wettstein in 1895 , is only considered a synonym today .
