Lerato Sechele gained her first international experience at the Junior African Championships 2011 in Gaborone , where she won the silver medal in the triple jump with 12.07 m and 13th in the long jump with 5.10 m. She then took part in the World Youth Championships near Lille and was eliminated there with 11.74 m in qualification. She then reached tenth place at the Africa Games in Maputo with 11.86 m. Two years later she won the Junior African Championships in Bambous with 12.62 m . In 2014 she first took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgowpart and was eliminated there with 12.33 m in the qualification. At the Africa Games in Brazzaville 2015, she finished ninth with 12.54 m. In 2018 she again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where she finished fourth with a new national record of 13.57 m. Then she won the bronze medal at the African Championships in Asaba with 13.31 m behind the Nigerian Grace Anigbata and Zinzi Chabangu from South Africa. The following year she was fifth at the Africa Games in Rabat with 13.24 m.
