Lesley Nicol (* 1953 in Manchester , England ) is a British film , theater and musical actress.

Life

Lesley Nicol grew up in Irlam, Lancashire, the daughter of a Scottish family doctor and a Welsh actress. During her school days in Manchester, she worked at the Library Theater. She then completed a three-year course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in the early 1970s .

Since then she has been working as an actress. She began her career as a musical actress in the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar . After working in various British theaters, she performed in London's West End theater district , where she played Rosie in the jukebox musical Mamma Mia for three years . In Our House she was seen in the role of Kath Casey .

Since the mid-1980s, she has also appeared in various television series and films. In 1988 she appeared in The Chronicles of Narnia: The King of Narnia as Mrs. Beaver . 1990 followed the role of the giant queen in The Chronicles of Narnia: The silver armchair . Since 2010 she portrayed the cook Mrs. Patmore in the British television series Downton Abbey . Contrary to the expectations of her fans, the animal rights activist and vegetarian cannot cook very well, which is when she creates a Downton Abbey cookbook for a charity event led to some difficulties in choosing her favorite recipe.

Lesley Nicol has been married since 2007.
