The Lessing-Gymnasium and Lessing-Berufskolleg of the city ​​of Düsseldorf is a municipal school where the gymnasium and vocational college are under the same management and are taught by the same college. The Lessing grammar school and Lessing vocational college were named after Gotthold Ephraim Lessing . In 2007 the Lessing Gymnasium and Lessing Vocational College were selected to be the first NRW sports school in cooperation with Fortuna Düsseldorf .

Lessing School on Ellerstrasse was inaugurated in September 1913; the entire building decoration was destroyed in bombing raids.

The Lessing Gymnasium and Lessing Vocational College was founded in 1910 as a secondary school. Until her move in 1913, she was based on Fürstenwall in Düsseldorf. When it moved to Ellerstrasse in 1913, it was also given the name “Lessing”. In 1916 the Lessing Gymnasium and Lessing Vocational College were promoted to high school. In August 2007 the school was selected as the first NRW sports school in cooperation with Fortuna Düsseldorf . Seven years later, on January 31, 2014, the Lessing Gymnasium and Lessing Vocational College were named the elite school of football.

Ways to graduation

The Lessing-Gymnasium and Lessing-Berufskolleg offer seven different ways to get the full Abitur: four at the grammar school and three at the vocational college. The vocational college brings new students to the upper level who attended a different school or type of school in lower secondary level.

Lessing high school

For each profile, the future advanced course is selected in the introductory phase. There is also a compulsory basic course for each profile.

At the grammar school, the classes of lower secondary level are not retained; courses are chosen for this. In these courses, the students from the different learning profiles are mixed together.

Young people research: Vectornator

In 2017, Vladimir Danila won the national competition Jugend forscht with his app Vectornator in the category "Mathematics / Computer Science". Vectornator is an app for iOS that makes it possible to create and edit vector graphics directly on the iPad. This means that the images can be scaled as required.
