The Marie-Curie-Gymnasium Düsseldorf is a municipal high school in the Gerresheim district of Düsseldorf . It is a "high school with a linguistic and artistic focus". 985 pupils (568 girls / 417 boys) are taught by 92 teachers (47 teachers / 36 teachers / 9 trainee teachers) in a four-tier class system.

history

The Marie-Curie-Gymnasium (MCG) was founded in 1962 as a high school for girls and formed the counterpart to the Gymnasium Gerresheim (GG) founded in 1947 , which was only accessible to boys. In 1970 the new MCG school complex was inaugurated, a few meters from the GG. Since 1970 both grammar schools have been teaching co-educationally . Nevertheless, traces of gender segregation can still be seen today. The MCG is artistically and linguistically oriented and has a higher proportion of female students, while the GG is more scientifically oriented and has a higher proportion of male students.

In the new millennium, the specialist rooms were completely renovated and new windows were installed in the entire school complex. In 2005, the outdated school's own sports field was replaced by a new one, which, in conjunction with the quadruple sports hall opened in 2007, constitutes an essential part of the modern sports infrastructure of the high school. The state performance base for rhythmic gymnastics is located on the school premises .

Another new class wing was opened in early 2009. In 2010, educational afternoon care was started. A cafeteria was built for this purpose .

In 2012 the Marie-Curie-Gymnasium celebrated its 50th anniversary with numerous events.
