Leszek Libera

Leszek Libera (* 1948 in Racibórz , Poland ) is a Polish writer , polonist , translator and university lecturer .

Life

After graduating from the Liceum in Racibórz, Leszek Libera studied polonistics at the University of Wroclaw until 1972 . He then worked for five years as a librarian and high school teacher for Polish in Cieszyn . From 1977 he worked as an adjunct in the Institute for Polish Philology (Instytut Filologii Polskiej) at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and was there on May 12, 1977 with the doctoral thesis Romantyczność i folklor. O twórczości Jacka Malczewskiego i Bolesława Leśmiana to Doctor of Philosophy PhD .

In 1980 he emigrated to Münster in Westphalia and accepted a teaching position at the University of Münster . From 1994 he taught as a university professor of literature at the University of Zielona Góra . He completed his habilitation on June 26, 1995 with the habilitation thesis Juliusza Słowackiego "Podróż do Ziemi Świętej z Neapolu" at the University of Wroclaw. On December 21, 2007, he was appointed full professor.

In the monographs from 1993 Leszek Libera presented the poetry of the Polish romantics Juliusz Słowacki and Adam Mickiewicz as well as the representatives of the modern age Jacek Malczewski and Bolesław Leśmian . In 2007 he translated the children's fairy tale The Puss in Boots and in 2012 Prince Zerbino or the journey to the good taste of Ludwig Tieck into the Polish language.

In 2011 and 2012 Leszek Libera published two novels in German with Neisse Verlag .
