Lette is a district of Oelde with 2245 inhabitants, in the district of Warendorf , Münster Region , however, was until 1970 an independent municipality in the Office Herzebrock , Kreis Wiedenbrück , Detmold .

history

The first farmers settled near today's Letter Mill. Lette has belonged to the Rheda rule since the Middle Ages .

In 1807 the community came to the Grand Duchy of Berg and after the end of the French era to the Prussian province of Westphalia . From 1816 she belonged to the office of Herzebrock in the district of Wiedenbrück .

In the course of the local reorganization, Lette was incorporated into the city of Oelde in what was then the Beckum district , now the Warendorf district , on January 1, 1970 . This was preceded by a vote by the Letter citizens, who voted 78.65 percent for the connection to Oelde. Later protests against this vote were inconclusive.

Blazon : "In green, a right-angled silver (white) turnpike ." The coat of arms was awarded on November 17, 1936 by the Prussian State Ministry. The turnpike refers to the origin of the word "Lette" from Old Saxon and means "fence". The colors are those of the office of Herzebrock, to which the community belonged.
