Lewellen is a village in Garden County in the US state of Nebraska .
location
Lewellen is located on the north bank of the North Platte River a few miles upstream of Lake McConaughy . US Highway 26 runs through the village , into which State Highway NE 92 flows just east of the village .
history
Lewellen is at a point where the Oregon Trail , the Mormon Trail, and the California Trail ran on both sides of the river in the 19th century . The place itself was founded in 1906 when the railway was extended to this point. The place was named after Frank Lewellen, a shop owner at the time.

According to the United States Census 2010 Lewellen had 224 inhabitants, 110 men and 114 women.
