Li Weinert
Elisabeth ("Li") Weinert (née Pitschmann ; born December 31, 1899 in Berlin ; † March 23, 1983 ibid) was a German reciter , cabaret artist and cultural functionary. She was the wife of Erich Weinert .
Life
Li Weinert was born into a middle-class family. She attended secondary school in Berlin from 1906 to 1914 . She worked as a reciter and cabaret artist. She recited Erich Weinert's poems in meetings, including during his seven-month ban on speaking (“Lex Weinert”) in 1931 in Prussia . In 1931 she joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and the Red Aid .
After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists, she emigrated from 1933 to 1935 with her husband and his daughter Marianne in Switzerland and France , then from August 1935 to January 1946 in the Soviet Union . Li Weinert did social work at the German School in Moscow and took part in cultural-political programs on the Moscow broadcaster . From 1943 to 1945 she was also a spokeswoman for the broadcaster of the National Committee “Free Germany” , of which her husband was president.
In 1946 she returned from emigration and became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). In 1947 she became a member of the Democratic Women's Association of Germany and the People's Solidarity, and in July 1948 a member of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship (DSF). From 1953 she was a member of the German Writers' Association and from 1953 to 1966 a member of its SED party leadership and since 1966 a member of the revision commission of this association.
Since 1954 she was a member and the DSF district headquarters Berlin society at Since 1957 she was a member of the German Cultural Association , since 1959 a member of the Committee of Antifascist Resistance in the GDR .
Together with the German Academy of the Arts in Berlin, she administered her husband's artistic estate and, after his death in 1953, read from his works in schools, companies, FDJ groups, in front of pioneers, units of the National People's Army and the German People's Police .
