Liane Birnberg
Liane Birnberg (* 1948 in Bucharest ) is a painter and composer .
Life
Liane Birnberg's Jewish parents come from Bukowina ( Chernivtsi ). They were survivors of the deportation camps in Transnistria . Liane Birnberg dealt with the story of her parents in the project Stratifications in the Haus am Kleistpark in Berlin in 2008.
Birnberg attended the Dinu Lipatti music school, majoring in violin, and then studied music at the Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory from 1967 to 1972 (now Universitatea Națională de Muzică Bucureşti). She joined the first women's band in Europe, Venus , and leads the pop band Venus L. and Menorah . She worked as a freelance actress, singer and composer for film music. In 1977 she gave concerts in Israel.
In 1978 she moved to the FRG (Federal Republic of Germany) and worked as a music teacher in Cologne. 1981 followed a stay in Lagos / Nigeria. She became acquainted with the Nigerian artist Bruce Onobrakpeya. From 1982 to 1988 she lived in Atlanta , gave courses at the Atlanta College of Art with Katherine Mitchell and was a member of the artist group "Ariel".
Birnberg has lived in Berlin since 1989. She is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists and the International Association of Art .
She is married and has a son.
