Libore is a rural municipality in the department of Kollo in Niger .

Liboré is located on the left bank of the Niger River in the southern Sahel zone and borders the Nigerien capital Niamey . The municipality consists of twelve administrative villages and ten hamlets. The main town of the rural municipality is the administrative village of Liboré Zarma (also Liboré Djerma). The neighboring communities apart from Niamey are Hamdallaye in the north, N'Dounga in the east and Youri and Bitinkodji in the south.

history

Liboré was settled by Zarma in the 17th century . From 2001 to 2002 the place was temporarily incorporated as the municipality Niamey VI in Niamey. In the flood disaster in West and Central Africa in 2010 , 526 Liboré residents were classified as disaster victims.

At the 2001 census, Liboré had 16,494 inhabitants. For 2010, 23,029 inhabitants were calculated. The inhabitants of Liboré include members of the Zarma, Fulbe and Hausa ethnic groups as well as a Malian minority.

Culture

The most important training center for Djesseré in the Zarma region is located in Liboré . Djesseré are a special kind of storyteller who pass on historical traditions in long lectures.

Economy and Infrastructure

In addition to the cultivation of rice, millet and cowpeas, livestock and fishing are practiced in the community.
