Bitinkodji (also Bintinkodji , Bittinkodji ) is a rural municipality in the department of Kollo in Niger .

Bitinkodji is located on the Niger River in the Sahel zone and is a south-western suburb of the Nigerien capital Niamey . The other neighboring communities of Bitinkodjis are Karma in the north, Liboré and Youri in the east, Ouro Guélédjo and Say in the south and Namaro and Torodi in the west. The municipality is divided into 17 administrative villages and 25 hamlets. The main town of the rural community is the village of Saga Fondo.

history

Bitinkodji was separated from the Say canton in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform - like the neighboring rural community Youri - and established as an independent rural community. Since then, Bitinkodji no longer belongs to the Say Department , but to the Kollo Department.

population

At the 2001 census, Bitinkodji had 14,506 residents. For 2010, 20,262 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and Infrastructure

Wet rice is grown on the river . The rest of the municipality is in a zone in which rain- fed farming is the predominant form of livelihood. National Road 4 runs through Bitinkodji .
