Lidia Zielińska

Lidia Zielińska (born October 9, 1953 in Poznan ) is a Polish composer.

Zielińska studied composition at the State Music Academy in her city with Andrzej Koszewski until 1979 . She then worked as a violinist with the Poznan Philharmonic and the Agnieszka Duczmal Chamber Orchestra . She has also worked with artists in the field of sculpture, theater and experimental film such as Jan Berdyszak , Ted Brandsen , Izabella Gustowska , Aleksandra Korejwo , Wojciech Müller , Lech Raczak , Roland Topor and Ewa Wycichowska . She has received numerous prizes for her compositions, including second prize at the composition competition of Jeunesses Musicales International in Belgrade in 1979, first prize at the international composition competition in Mannheim in 1980 and the prize at the international competition for electroacoustic music in Bourges in 1997.

In the 1993–94 season she took part in the EuroMusicTheater project, which led to the performance of the play Zeitschlingen in Stuttgart. The following season she was involved in the Danube Ballet project, which resulted in the world premiere of the play Venture Unknown at the Holland Dance Festival . 1995–96 Zielinska was composer in residence at the studio for electronic music in Stockholm.

From 1982 to 1992 she was the director of the Poznań Spring Music Festival , between 1989 and 1992 and between 1996 and 2005 she was a member of the program committee of the Warsaw Autumn New Music Festival . She has also held several positions in the Polish Composers' Association and the Polish section of the International Society for Contemporary Music . She is a professor of composition at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Music Academy in Poznan and the Music Academy in Wroclaw , gives summer courses a. a. in France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Belarus and workshops for children, actors and filmmakers.
