Lidija Ivanovna Charlemagne , even Charlemagne Nowossad ( Russian Лидия Ивановна Шарлемань Lidija Ivanovna Scharleman , Шарлемань-Новосад Scharleman-Nowossad ; born March 31 . Jul / 13. April 1915 greg. In Petrograd , Russian Empire ; † 1963 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) , was a Russian- Soviet painter .
Life
Charlemagne, great-niece of Adolf Iossifowitsch Charlemagne , lost her parents Iwan Adolfowitsch Charlemagne and Alexandra Sergejewna in the Russian Civil War at the age of five . She and her two sisters were sent to a children's home in Vladikavkaz . In 1921 Charlemagne was accepted into the Novossad family from Vladikavkas. Her foster father Ivan Timofejewitsch Novossad worked as an accountant , while his wife Jelena Wassiljewna was a housewife.
After finishing school in 1930, Charlemagne left her foster parents and went to Novorossiysk . There, she worked in a cement factory and then two years in Stalin - collective farm . In 1932 she completed the one-year training at the naval school in the electromechanics department and then worked as an electrician.
In 1934, Charlemagne determined that she was the niece Iossif Adolfowitsch Charlemagnes and the great-niece Adolf Iossifowitsch Charlemagnes . Her uncle Iossif Adolfowitsch Charlemagne was a professor at the Academy of Arts of Georgia in Tbilisi , to which she was now traveling. She studied for two years at the graphic - Faculty of the Academy of Arts, where she proved her extraordinary skills and their endurance.
In 1938 Charlemagne went to Moscow and studied at the painting faculty of the Surikow Art Institute. After the start of the German-Soviet War in 1941, she was evacuated to Borovskoye in the Qostanai region and, after a year, to Samarkand , where her evacuated institute was located. After the birth of her child in Samarkand, she separated from her first husband and married the Leningrad painter and university professor Alexander Adolfowitsch Debler . In 1944, due to the changed family situation, she was transferred to the Leningrad Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture , where she completed her studies in the workshop of Boris Vladimirovich Ioganson with her thesis The Surgeon Pirogov before the operation as a painting artist.
In 1948 Charlemagne was accepted into the Leningrad Union of Artists . Since then she has exhibited her work at exhibitions together with leading Leningrad artists. Her works included genre paintings , portraits , landscapes and still lifes . Her portrait of Sergei Alexandrovich Jessenin is particularly well known . They include also the student from Pereslavl us the portrait of the old Bolsheviks PJ Lebedev (1958) and The Brigade of locksmith technicians of the factory Krassny Wyborschez and VI Lenin and AM Gorky in Gorky (1961). Charlemagne's works can be found in museums and private collections at home and abroad.
