Version of RIO

Tony T., ex-front man of RIO

On January 27, 2011, the German dance project RIO released a cover version of the song. In this case, the melody and the title of Like I Love You were adopted and a crossover was created between the musical styles of hands-up and commercial house. The text of the original was rewritten for the reinterpretation by the members of the project, Manuel Reuter and Yann Peifer, together with the songwriter Andres Ballinas. The single was released across Europe as a download and single on the music label Zooland , Kontor and Spinnin 'Records . The title was the first single from their second studio album Sunshine . In 2013, a remix of the RIO interpretation produced by the German DJ and producer CJ Stone was released as an album track. This was largely responsible for the success of the song in Switzerland.

In addition to the original new edition by RIO, there were three remix versions on the single. One of these was contributed by Michael Bein, part of The Hitmen under his alias Money G. The second remix was produced by Black Toys, a project to which Manuel Reuter belongs, and is based heavily on the original Like I Love You . The third is by Raf Marchesini and uses a melody sample of the song Narcotic by the German rock band Liquido from 1998.

The official music video was released on January 4, 2011 and directed by German director Dirk Hilger. In addition to Tony T. , the front man of the project, the video also shows German actress Lucrezia Phantazia. It addresses a love relationship that breaks due to an accident. It garnered over 45 million views by July 2020.
