Liliana Maria Gonçalves Rodrigues de Góis (born April 13, 1973 in Funchal , Madeira ) is a Portuguese humanities scholar and politician ( PS ). From 2014 to 2019 she was a MEP for Portugal.

Life

Góis studied philosophy at the New University of Lisbon until 1996 , where she also qualified as a professor in 2008 in the field of education. During her studies, she worked as a philosophy teacher at secondary schools from 1998 to 2004. After completing her studies, she first worked as an assistant at Madeira University and later as a lecturer. At the university, she headed the educational sciences course and was represented on numerous university committees.

Since 2011 she has been chairwoman of the Laboratório de Ideias da Madeira . She is also an active member of the Madeira Animal Welfare and Associação Presença Feminina organizations .

Political party

For the 2014 European elections , the Socialist Party (PS) nominated Rodrigues de Góis to be eighth on the list. The party gained 31.46 percent and eight places on the list. Rodrigues de Góis was Madeira's representative in the European Parliament alongside Cláudia Monteiro de Aguiar (PSD). Rodrigues, like her colleagues, joined the PS of the S&D Group . For her group, she was a member of the Committee on Regional Development and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality in the 8th electoral term (2014–2019) . She was also a deputy member of the Committee on Culture and Education and the Subcommittee on Human Rights .

After internal disputes the PS Madeira did not nominate Rodrigues, but the young politician Sara Cerdas for the 2019 European elections . Rodrigues no longer stood and resigned from parliament.
