The stem is papilose , the leaves lanceolate, between 5 cm and 10 cm long and two to three cm wide. They are sticky, five-nerved , papillary at the edge and distributed around the stem.
The plant blooms from June to July with 1 to 15 in a single or up to five in a panicle , nodding, trumpet-shaped flowers, which smell strongly of indole . The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold. The six identical bloom cladding sheets ( tepals ) are rolled backwards and 6 cm to 13 cm long and between 1.6 and 2 cm wide. The ovary (ovary) is cylindrical, the stylus four to five cm tall, the stigma is swollen with a diameter of about four mm. The seed ripens in seed pods and germinates instantly - epigeously .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
