The limacella ( Limacella ) is a fungal genus of the family of Wulstlingsverwandten .

features

Macroscopic features

The mucous umbrellas form fruiting bodies divided into a hat and a stem , which in their outer shape resemble small umbrellas . They have a Velum universale , in some species also a Velum partiale. The Velum universale mucus the fruiting body when it ripens, which makes the cap skin and sometimes the stalk sticky to slimy. The velum partiale can remain on the stem as a membranous, hanging ring, slimy ring zone or like a veil. A volva is generally absent, but can be rudimentary in young fruiting bodies. The slats are white and free. The spore powder is white.

Microscopic features

The hyphae have buckles . The spores are hyaline , inamyloid and either smooth or ornamented with small warts .

ecology

The slime parasols are saprobionts that grow on earth, leaf and needle litter, and less often on wood.

species

The genus includes around 20 species worldwide, of which the following taxa occur or are expected in Europe:

Slime umbrellas ( Limacella ) in Europe
German name Scientific name Author quote
Delicate slime umbrella Limacella delicata (Frieze 1821: Frieze 1821) Earle 1909

Long-handled slime umbrella Limacella furnacea (Letellier 1835) E.-J. Gilbert 1928 ('1927')
Limacella ochraceorosea (Béguet & Bon 1975) Neville & Poumarat 2004

Systematics

Some authors also place the genus in relation to the roof mushroom relatives .

In recent times, some species that used to belong to the mucous umbrella have been separated due to phylogenetic investigations and the new genera Limacellopsis ( dripped slime umbrella , L. guttata ), Catatrama and Zhuliangomyces ( ivory slime umbrella , Z. illinitus and Ockergelber Schleimschirmling , Z. ochraceoluteus ).

meaning

Some species of the slime umbrella are edible, but not very productive because of the small fruiting bodies or due to their rarity they can be spared.
