Career
Lin's talent in table tennis was discovered very early on. In elementary school he was accepted into the LANU Table Tennis Center , where he was supported by the Taiwanese national coach Chuo Dong-i .
The Taiwanese player made his first international matches at the age of 14 and was able to gain some international experience. The year 2017 started with a bang for Lin: At the Czech Open he beat several top players one after the other, including Robert Gardos , Anton Källberg and Tiago Apolónia . It was only in the quarterfinals that Hugo Calderano stopped him.
The youth world championships in the same year were less successful for Lin, in the first round he had to give up and thus missed the opportunity to win the tournament. In 2018 he put a damper on the European euphoria, at the Hungarian and Qatar Open Lin was able to defeat other top players and thus climbed the world rankings.
In May, the China Open finally followed, at which he was able to defeat his first Chinese: Fang Bo . However, he lost to Zhang Jike at the Japan Open . Lin had set himself big goals for the Youth Olympic Games, but ultimately only finished fourth. He lost his game for third place against Tomokazu Harimoto . 2019 went like a bang for him: First of all, he cleared the Oman Open and won gold in all three competitions (singles, doubles, mixed). At the Qatar Open he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Lin Gaoyuan , but was able to defeat players like Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Wong Chun Ting beforehand .
He also took part in the T2 APAC Malaysia tournament, where he defeated world and Olympic champion Ma Long .
