Gaoyuan Lin ( Chinese 林高遠 , Pinyin Lín Gāoyuǎn * 19th March 1995 in Shenzhen ) is a Chinese table tennis - national team .
Career
At the 2009 Youth World Cup, Lin won medals in all competitions: bronze in singles and mixed doubles, silver in doubles and gold with the team. In 2010 and 2011 he took part in several World Tour tournaments, his first medal placement in the adult division was reaching the semi-finals at the Korea Open 2011. He also won the U-21 competition at the Grand Finals 2010. At the 2010 World Youth Championships , In 2011 and 2012 he won three silver medals in singles and three gold medals with the team, as well as two bronze and one gold medals, and one bronze and one silver medals. In January 2011 he was represented in the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time , in December he reached a preliminary record with 32nd place. Due to the strong Chinese competition, however, it was hardly present internationally in the following years.
In the Chinese Super League he was one of the best players in singles in 2016, with a score of 11: 0. At the 2017 Asian Cup, he reached the quarter-finals in singles and won gold in doubles alongside Fan Zhendong . In an internal qualifying tournament, he also secured a place at the 2017 World Cup . There he met Xu Xin in the round of 16 , but missed all match points in the decision set when the score was 10: 5 and lost at 10:12. By beating Fan Zhendong in the final, Lin Gaoyuan won the Asian Cup in September and qualified for the World Cup . At the Austrian Open , he beat Marcos Freitas , Kōki Niwa , Simon Gauzy and Yan An , among others , winning his first individual title on the World Tour and as a result moved into the top 10 in the world rankings. At the World Cup he reached the quarter-finals, but was unable to take advantage of a 3-1 lead against Timo Boll and a 10-4 lead when the score was 3: 3 and lost 3: 4. He also qualified for the Grand Finals , in which he lost in the quarterfinals to Dimitrij Ovtcharov 3: 4 after leading 2-0. In the Super League, he was one of the best players in 2017 with a record of 22: 5 and victories over Ma Long , Fan Zhendong and Xu Xin - gold, silver and bronze medalists at the World Cup. In 2018 he took part in a team World Cup for the first time and won gold with China, in October he won bronze at the World Cup after a semi-final defeat against Fan Zhendong . At the end of the year he took part in the Grand Finals , where he beat World Cup third place Lee Sang-su , Xu Xin and Jun Mizutani before losing to Tomokazu Harimoto in the final . At the 2019 World Cup he reached the quarter-finals in singles and won bronze in doubles with Liang Jingkun .

Lin Gaoyuan uses the table tennis blade "LIN GAOYUAN ALC" by Butterfly , which he is named after. It is based on the Butterfly Viscaria wood. As a table tennis rubber he plays the "DIGNICS 05" on the backhand.
