Location of Lindflur in Bavaria

Lindflur is a district of the market Reichenberg in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .

Geographical location

Lindflur is relatively centrally located in the Reichenberg municipality. Reichenberg itself can be found in the north, while the Rottenbauer district of Würzburg rises in the northeast . To the east, in the immediate vicinity of the village, is the Reichenberg district of Chaussee-Wirthshaus on the Lindflur district. The south is occupied by the district of Albertshausen . Uengershausen is to the southwest .

history

The toponym of Lindflur can be interpreted in many ways. Older research assumes that there was a field in Lindflur where there were many snakes (from ahd. Lint). Perhaps the name is derived from the Lindelbach , which flows through the village. Most likely, however, that a mill by the stream was built here around which some linden trees were planted. Accordingly, the name would be derived from the linden trees.

The branch church in Lindflur

Lindflur appeared relatively late in written records. Initially, the village was closely connected with the nearby Albertshausen. On May 18, 1356, a Würzburg document from Bishop Albrecht II of Hohenlohe confirmed the possessions of the St. Burkard monastery in "Lyntflur". In 1324 the Würzburg canon Eberhard von Rieden acquired a mill from Fritzo von Rebstock. The Würzburg monastery of St. Stephan received several goods through purchase in the following years.

It is still unclear when exactly the church in Lindflur was raised to a parish. Prince-Bishop Otto von Wolfskeel acquired the villages of Albertshausen and Lindflur for his family after taking office in 1333 and probably established an independent parish in both places, and in 1484 there is a church in Lindflur. Today's Lindflur church was built in 1596. However, the parish died down over time and the village now has only one branch church.

In the 15th century there was a line of the Lords Wolfskeel von Grumbach in Lindflur , so Hans Wolfskeel (1445–1479) called himself "von Lindflur". From 1531 the family buried their dead in the village church. It is also thanks to the Lords of Wolfskeel that a small castle was built in the village, but there are no traces of it today. Lindflur is now part of the municipality of Reichenberg. In 1978 the formerly independent community was completely incorporated into Reichenberg. In 1961 the community had an area of 366 hectares and had two parts: Lindflur and Chaussee-Wirthshaus .

Attractions

The only registered monument in Lindflur is the Evangelical Lutheran branch church. It was promoted and built by the von Wolfskeel gentlemen. The structure of the choir tower church probably goes back to the 15th century. At that time the rectangular hall building with a gable roof was created. In the course of the adoption of the Reformation , the church was renewed. In 1596 the tower was raised in the style of the Catholic Julius Echter churches , and the nave was expanded.
