Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there are 7,172 people, 2,647 households and 1,966 families in the city. The population density is 723.0 inhabitants per km². 95.20% of the population are White, 1.06% African American , 0.11% Native American , 2.41% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.22% Other Ethnicity, and 0.99% Mixed Race . 1.81% are Latinos of various origins.
Of the 2,647 households, 35.1% have children under the age of 18. 63.4% of them are married couples living together, 8.5% are single mothers, 25.7% are not families, 22.3% are single households and 12.9% are people over 65. The average household size is 2 , 65, the average family size 3.13.
