On October 14th, 2014 the artwork and a low-quality version of the song were leaked and published on the internet. On the same day it was announced that the song will be released on October 21, 2014 as Trainor's second single. Before that, the second single should be the song title .
Lips Are Movin is not as successful in comparison to their first single All About That Bass , but critics believe that the song Trainor turned from a one-hit wonder into a successful pop act. The song was a commercial hit and became Trainor's second single that made the top 5 in Australia, the UK and the US. The song was also able to reach good chart positions in other European countries, including Germany, Spain, Austria and the Netherlands.

Trainor sang the song live on NBC's The Today Show on November 5, 2014 , Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 27, 2014, on the 2014 Jingle Ball Tour in December 2014, and in an acoustic version on The Tonight on January 15, 2015 Show starring Jimmy Fallon . At the season 19 finale of Dancing With The Stars , Trainor sang a medley of All About That Bass and Lips Are Movin . The song was also part of the That Bass Tour and the MTrain Tour , both of which took place in 2015.
