Lisa-Rebecca Wulff (born June 25, 1990 in Hamburg ) is a German jazz musician ( electric bass , double bass , composition).

Live and act

After taking classical piano and guitar lessons, Wulff began playing the electric bass at the age of nine. Later she completed a preparatory training in the field of jazz and popular music ("Young Academy") at the youth music school in Hamburg. Until 2013 she studied music education in the field of jazz and jazz-related music with the main subjects electric and double bass with Detlev Beier at the University of the Arts Bremen ; she then continued her artistic training with Lucas Lindholm at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater .

In addition to composing and studio work, for example for Goetz Steeger or Rolf Kühn , Wulff is on the road with various of his own bands, for example with the quartet takadoon or her Lisa Wulff quartet, which has so far released two albums ( Encounters 2016, Wondrous Strange on Laika Records 2018). Prizes and awards

In 2016 she was awarded the IB.SH-Jazz-Award from JazzBaltica ; In 2019 she received the Hamburg Jazz Prize “as a stylistically extremely open and stylish bassist” who “proves to be a reliable, energetic haven of calm and at the same time an inspiring engine in a variety of band contexts (from duo to big band)”.
