Lisa Gotto

Lisa Gotto (* 4. February 1976 in Bonn ) is a German film and media scholar and professor of Theory of Film at the Department of Theater, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna Previously, she was a professor of film studies at the International Film School Cologne and Professor for Media and Game Studies at the Cologne Game Lab of the TH Köln .

Life

Lisa Gotto studied theater, film and television studies, German and English at the Ruhr University Bochum , the University of Warwick and the University of Cologne . From 2001 to 2007 she was a research assistant at the Bauhaus University Weimar , from 2005 to 2006 assistant at the HFF Munich . In 2006 she did her doctorate with Lorenz Engell as Dr. phil. From 2007 to 2008 Gotto was a research assistant at the University of Mannheim , from 2008 to 2010 academic advisor at the University of Regensburg . Between 2009 and 2010 she was a professor for media studies at the University of Mannheim. From 2010 to 2018 she taught as a professor for film studies (film history / film analysis) at the ifs international film school in Cologne , from 2016 to 2018 she also taught as a professor for media and game studies at the Cologne Game Lab at the TH Cologne . Between 2011 and 2012 she was visiting professor at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg , and from April to July 2018 she was a fellow at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS). Since 2012 she has published the series “Bild und Bit. Studies on digital media culture "(together with Gundolf S. Freyermuth ), since 2014 the series" Studies on theater, film and television "(together with Renate Möhrmann and Thomas Wortmann). She is co-founder and co-editor (together with Annette Simonis) of the periodical media comparative studies and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Gaming and Virtual Worlds. Her teaching and research interests include film and media theory , image aesthetics and digital media culture .
