Unterweger, who competes for SK Rottenmann, appeared internationally in January 2012 at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck . There she achieved 22nd place over 5 km classic, 11th place in the sprint and seventh place in the mixed relay. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Erzurum , she took 30th place over 5 km, 19th place in the sprint and seventh place with the relay. The following year she came in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec on the 47th place over 5 km freestyle, on the 20th place in the sprint and on the fifth place with the relay. Her best results at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2013 in Brașov were 11th place in the mixed relay and eighth place in the sprint. In the 2013/14 season she finished seventh and in the 2014/15 season sixth place in the U20 overall ranking of the Alpencup . Her best placings at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2014 in Fiemme Valley were 25th place over 5 km classic and 11th place with the relay. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty , she achieved 23rd place in the skiathlon , 18th place over 5 km freestyle and eighth place in the sprint. In January 2016, she made her debut in the Tour de Ski sprint stage in Lenzerheide in the cross-country skiing world cup , finishing in 63rd place. At the U23 World Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , she came in 35th place over 10 km classic, 27th place over 10 km freestyle and 12th place in sprint. In January 2017 she became Austrian champion in the pursuit. At the beginning of February 2017 she won the Balkan Cup in Ravna Gora over 5 km classic and over 5 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 , she took 36th place in the sprint and 16th place together with Anna Roswitha Seebacher in the team sprint. In March 2017, she won her first victory in the Alpine Cup over 10 km freestyle in St. Ulrich am Pillersee and won silver in the 15 km mass start race and gold in the sprint at the Austrian championships in Eisenerz . The following year she became Austrian champion over 15 km and in the sprint. In January 2018 she got her first World Cup points in Seefeld in Tirol with the 28th place in the sprint. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she ran 67th place over 10 km freestyle, 50th place in the sprint and 14th place together with Teresa Stadlober in the team sprint. In February 2019 she finished 44th in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol, 43rd in the 30 km mass start race and 31st place over 10 km classic.
